A unique look behind the scenes

The World Port Days offers a rare chance to experience the harbour up close. Step aboard impressive vessels, watch demonstrations by emergency services and naval ships, and join excursions to areas usually off-limits. Think of boat tours, walking and cycling routes, and visits to innovative harbour projects. Across the city there will be performances, children’s activities, interactive stands, and technology squares. All set against the striking backdrop of Rotterdam, with the Erasmus Bridge, historic warehouses, and modern high-rises as scenery. It is exactly this mix of port, water, and architecture that makes the weekend so special.

A family outing

From activities on the water to a floating skate ramp and interactive quaysides, the programme during the World Port Days is broad and varied. It shows that the harbour is much more than industry alone. It plays an important role in the economy, but also in innovation, sustainability, education, and culture. This event reveals how the harbour and the city are connected, and how that collaboration shapes the future of Rotterdam. There are also special activities for young people and students, in partnership with technical schools, port companies, and knowledge institutes.
