This year, Rotterdam Architecture Month will take place at a unique location: a forgotten strip behind the Schiehavenhallen in Schiemond. There is something for everyone to do during this special month, regardless of knowledge or experience with architecture. During this festival, you will discover how architecture influences and improves daily life.
City making with what is already there
With the theme 'City making with what is already there', the Rotterdam Architecture Month (RA Month) invites visitors to revalue the potential of the existing. What happens if we do not continue to renew the city by using new raw materials, but instead by working with what is already there, alive and usable?
Hidden quay in Schiemond
The centre of RA Month '25 is a long-hidden quay in Schiemond. For the first time in decades, this robust piece of the Maas will open to the public as a circular festival heart. In the run-up to June, the quay has been transformed into a place of meaning together with designers, residents and local makers. The future has been built: with existing materials, neighbourhood stories and local networks. A new public space, created from what was already there.

Also outside the festival heart there is enough to do for everyone during the Rotterdam Architecture Month, with over 125 activities spread over 40 locations. Below we share a number of highlights!
5 - 29 juni BoTu Summer garden
Discover how residents, artists and reuse come together in a hidden oasis in Schiemond, designed by J.J.P. Oud. Sit down in the pop-up tea garden, admire art and photography, and join us for lunch on Thursday.
14 June Day and night of architecture
Talk to architects Violette Schönberger and Marjolein van Eig in the festival heart of the Rotterdam Architecture Month, walk through transformed warehouses and brand new homes in the Lloydkwartier and discover the hidden gems of Rotterdam with a ‘walking dinner’ in the Merwe-Vierhavensgebied (M4H). During the Classics by Night, the Delftse Poort and the Van Nelle Factory can be visited, with the Oostelijk Zwembad as this year's special classic.
20 June AFFR film: Universal Language
Especially for RA Month ’25, AFFR presents the pre-premiere of a film that is already seen as a ‘future cult classic’: Universal Language. The film will not be released in Dutch cinemas until after the summer, so this is your chance to see it now, in the unique setting of the RA Month festival heart!
26 June An evening with Ma Yansong
During this latest edition of 'An evening with', Ma Yansong, founder of MAD Architects, will talk to Aric Chen, director of the Nieuwe Instituut, about his design philosophy, ideas and working methods, and about the collaboration on the exhibition Ma Yansong. Architecture and emotion.
27 June Symposium Women in Architecture
About visibility, influence and future power: Women in Architecture returns! With inspiring panels, tours and workshops you will explore how research, representation and practice can contribute to strengthening the position of women in architecture. Think along and help build a more inclusive profession.
