After locations in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Hilversum, a location finally opened in Rotterdam. Less than two years later, two new locations were added. But it all started on the Westewagenstraat; a top location with a sunny terrace, right in the city centre.
How it all started
More than seven years ago, three partners started Pizza Beppe, driven by a shared mission: to introduce the Netherlands to the real Neapolitan pizza. As a single-speciality restaurant, they do only one thing, but they do it to perfection. The Neapolitan pizza, prepared according to traditional methods and without concessions to quality or craftsmanship.
Omar Sharif, one of the owners and founders of Pizza Beppe told us about this: "We only work with the best ingredients, such as type 00 flour, the finest flour available, San Marzano tomatoes, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana; everything is of high quality. In addition, we are affiliated with Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), an organization that guarantees the quality and authenticity of the Neapolitan pizza. We are very proud to be part of this."
Pizza Beppe on the Westewagenstraat
Pizza Beppe's first Rotterdam location was an immediate success. So much so that multiple locations were sought. In June 2024, the location in Van Oldenbarneveltstraat opened, and in July 2024, the location in Witte de Withstraat. But it all started on Westewagenstraat, a side street of Meent.
The search for a suitable first location in the city took a while for the owners. Everything fell into place when this characteristic building from the 1950s became available. The central location, the lively surroundings and the possibilities for a terrace at both the front and back made this place ideal.
With a view of the Grotekerk and the water, the back terrace offers great added value, especially in the summer months. The location, right next to well-known businesses such as Wijnbar Janssen en van Dijk and 1NUL8, now attracts a wide audience. Rotterdam residents know exactly what to expect on Westewagenstraat: pure, artisanal pizzas according to a Neapolitan recipe.
