Get ready again for the largest architecture festival in the Netherlands! This year the festival heart is located in the Museum Park, where visitors from young to old follow a route through the greenery, past special installations about the past, present and future of the park.

Garden of the city

The choice of Museum Park as the festival heart was a logical choice: this year marks exactly one hundred years since the Land of Hoboken, of which Museum Park is part, became accessible in the form of a public space for everyone.

It has grown over the past century from a private estate to a cultural hotspot in the city, and is a series of different gardens from various periods, each with their own character. The Nieuwe Tuin (New Garden) of the Nieuwe Instituut, a roof garden at the Depot and the Erasmus MC were recently added.

Follow the route through the park

During the RA Month, various institutions, locations and stories in the Museum Park are connected by a route that zigzags through the area.

During the route you will be taken to special locations via an outdoor exhibition, marked by interventions by various designers. For example, in the garden of the museum house Huis Sonneveld, a leading example of Dutch functionalist architecture from 1933, a meter-high tower is being built that literally allows visitors to walk through time. The route also takes you to Boijmans van Beuningen. This monumental building has been closed for renovation and renewal in 2019, but will open especially for RA Month.

The route continues with a temporary bridge from the museum garden to an intervention in the Rose Garden and other special places in the Museum Park.

Longing for Boijmans

During RA Month, the building of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, which has been closed since 2019 for a large-scale renovation and renewal, will open to visitors for five weeks.

Ticket sales for Snakken naar Boijmans (Longing for Boijmans) start on May 1, 2024. This is a unique opportunity to visit the building, right between echoes of the past and dreams of the future. Various interventions by artists bring the empty building to life. There will be an additional programme, including for children.

Lectures, workshops, films and debates will take place in the Henket pavilion behind the museum, programmed by AIR – Architecture Institute Rotterdam in collaboration with many partners from the city.

More specific information will follow soon via the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. website and channels.
